Katarina Holbrough
(She/Her)Tkaronto, Ontario

“A projected world of nocturnal ephemeral spaces.”
My work delineates a series of nightscapes; fleeting, atmospheric spaces that hover between presence and absence. Not grounded in a specific time or space, but rather emotional landscapes. Transient worlds, projected from memory, sensation, and speculation

At the heart of my practice I am examining the invisible and often unspoken systems that shape the lived experiences of women and gender-marginalized individuals. Through transcorporeal environments and nocturnal, liminal spaces, I explore how femininity intersects with structures like classism and religion; forces that have historically dictated what is seen, valued, and remembered.

Oil painter working with oil, oil pastel, and beads. Holbrough holds a BFA in Criticism and Curatorial Practice, minoring in Drawing and Painting from OCAD U. Her work has been displayed across Canada and Internationally. With the most recent show with Allgorithim, Los Angeles, US, and STACKT Market,Toronto, On. Holbrough works with themes of classicism, femininity, and religion.
